(Just kidding.)
On this day of July 30th at 7:00 PM, it has officially been one day since I returned from Las Vegas. Now of course, with it being in the midst of summer, some may begin pointing at their screens and screeching, "Why the hell would you wanna go to Nevada!? It's friggin' hot there!!". To them: you are correct. It was quite regular for the temperature to flutter in the high-nineties at all times of the day, and when the sun was out, it often peaked at around 110. So yes. It was hot. Really very hot.
But you see, it will be my sixteenth birthday tomorrow, July 31st. Since my parents didn't want to get me a car (I get the hand-me-down BMW, which is cool enough in my book XD), they decided to take me and a friend down to catch a Blue Man Group show. I hadn't known much about the Blue Men; I'd seen a few of their commercials and watched a couple skits on YouTube, but as far as I could tell they were just some strange smurfies that like to hit plumbing objects and make noise. But hey, why not. And my friend of choice, ~Hydrina (you've all heard about her, I'm sure...) was doubtful as well, but she came along anyway. But we both expressed concerns about how it would be...
It was awesome.
I am dead serious. Probably one of the best performances I have ever(and possibly ever will) experienced. What struck me is just how interactive the Blue Men are with the audience. Quite often they will wander into the crowd and stare with their creepy, emotionless, blue-coated face at random people, turn cameras onto audience members, and even get--er--rather intimate with the digestive tract of a hapless person (although I'm pretty sure they just stick the camera in the mouth and then play a recording from there...eww...you have to see it yourself...). They even select members to join them onstage for their skits (which are hilarious by the way. So funny. Fantastic.). It's even got a tad of education in it. I learned all about the function of my eyes and tricks played by my brain. And before the show, a screen scrolls words across itself, saying humorous things or announcing birthdays (though mine, unfortunately, was not asked beforehand). Maybe even nominate a poor person from the crowd to do some random thing...oh dear.
Anyway. Their tricks are awesome, their stage is fantastic (and full of amazing goodies! You wouldn't believe how many things begin moving or flying around when you thought they were completely cosmetic/stationary!), and their props and glowy-in-the-dark musicians are extraordinary.
There's so many things about their two-hour performance that I can't restate; I wouldn't want to ruin it for any future audiences, or reveal too many of the Blue Mens' secrets. But you need to know that this, my friend, is one show that you must see.
